that federer magic!

January 28th, 2007 by flutterkikay

last night gonzo, the bomber was bombed by the federer express showing all why he is the king. if roddick was thrashed, as veejay put it, gonzalez was trounced in a most resounding way, with an exclamation point to boot. while gonzalez gave it all he had in the first set with an aching back, federer hit baseline winners with pinpoint accuracy and hit ripping forehands that left everyone in sheer awe.  all that, without hardly breaking a sweat.

grabe, poetry in motion talaga at so nice and humble pa. (he engaged gonzalez in small talk after the match and had none of those irritating braggadocio that nadal’s so (in)famous for. thank god, his fashion sense is now up to par with his flawless tennis. (but i still love him, even if he remained fugly, it’ll be my honor to give him the makeover he direly needs).

he is a tennis god, i feel i must genuflect.

in a rut…

December 5th, 2006 by flutterkikay

for the past week or so, i’ve been in a rut. i feel that i’ve been stagnant for the last couple of years and that i’m not accomplishing as much as i’m supposed to. for others, cguro i have accomplished much but for me, it never seems enough.

i can’t wait to finish my master’s degree and move on to bigger and better things (like Ph.D. before I’m 30) haay, i feel sooooo old already. I don’t know why I feel like such a Scrooge on Christmas (must be the age). nway, for all my beautiful inaanaks na mana sa ninang, hwag mag-alala, i’ll still fill your yearly stocking this year lest your parents pelt me with tomatoes and killer dagger looks. special mention kay chloe, ehem…

Anyhow, i have the whole Christmas season to plan my summer wardrobe for killer outfits natch. syempre, i’ve have a reputation to uphold, you know…

British blokes, here i come :)

Adieu, Andre :(

September 14th, 2006 by flutterkikay

i know it’s really, really belated but i can’t let Andre Agassi retire without writing my two cents worth about the man whose on and off-court deameanor and grace is surpassed only by his amazing baseline plays, his changing hairstyles and the generosity of heart.  true, i’ve only recognized him as the ONE with the balding pate as i caught the tennis bug in the tailend of his rivalry with Pete Sampras but i’m astounded just the same with his sheer determination to get back at the top of the game when he literally scrapped the bottom of the barrel during such trying moments.  He returned with such vengeance and kept naysayers at bay when he went back at the top of the heap at the grand old age of 30 something.

Most of all, he did everything with such grace and class that you cannot help but bow down to the master.  Yes, he defied age and time but i guess time caught up with him in the end. To the elder statesman of tennis, yours is the stuff of legend and you will sorely be missed. Roger may be the king of the hill but you will remain my sentimental favorite…all fans will miss that funny walk of yours.

burn out ?

June 1st, 2006 by flutterkikay

haay, mega ngarag ako these past few days. kami na lang dalawa ni nice ang natira  kasi naka-leave si edel and si efren. si eia naman ay nasa tralaland ng ADB at si sir verbs nasa dbm na. Kung dati 5-6 writers ang gumagawa ng workload, imagine the amount of work we have to do because it’s divided between the two of us lang, as in haay…talaga, parang ngang di nauubos yung messages and referrals eh kapapasa ko lang ng isang batch kanina meron na namang kasunod, parang di nababawasan ung files ko….haay, buti na lang, pretty ako…imagine kung irritable and stressed na nga ako tapos di ko pa gusto yung mukha ko tuwing humaharap ako sa salamin, eh imagine the sheer horrors of life (grabe, ang yabang ko no…) The only thing i’m looking forward to is school, as in breath of fresh air talaga –feeling ko kasi amoy op na ko — pati hininga ko messages na — that plus, the derma appointment that i have tomorrow for diamond peel.

kidding aside, pinapasaya ko lang ang sarili ko kasi puro na lang trabaho and truth is, i feel crappy these days.  after the news and a bit of the french open, i hit the sack immediately kasi nga pagod na pagod na ko and madalas natatarayan ko pa yung sister ko like last night, when she wanted to sleep beside me and made me lambing, actually, pestering is more like it– and watch TV with her. Pero naman pare, I was so damn tired and i had to wake up at 6 am to go to work the following morning whereas she had no classes until the 1st week of June.

Man, I am sooo beat….

seven ways…

March 30th, 2006 by flutterkikay

i should be doing ty letters for presidential visits now…but, heck, i just finished one special congratulatory thingie na rush a few minutes ago…so give me a break…and let my brain turn into mush for once (ayoko na muna mag-isip, pwede?).  i got this thing from trish’s blog and filled it up with my own choices. well, technically speaking, i am still thinking… but not of the esoteric kind, anyway.

These are all in random order:

seven things i like most

1. good conversation (from the most mundane and mababaw kind to the most philosophical

2. books

3. chocolates

4.food (from swanky gourmet ones to street food)

5. travelling

6. shopping

7. white

seven random facts about me

1. don’t drink softdrinks, especially Coke

2. has four legs, with an alter ego to boot (though i only bring her occasionally because i’m trying to be more independent.)

3. has this life-long fascination for speed and cars

4. i’m the last (wo)man standing in my family.

5. the metal detector always rings shrilly when i’m around.

6. had retainers in fifth grade.

7. had a mynah bird for a pet named Myna(?!)- how imaginative - in first grade.

Seven useless things in my bedroom

1. a non-working PC (I use the one in our library - the atmosphere’s more conducive to studying and writing)

2. posters that I’ve had since fifth grade (of animals and stuff)

3. my dao pic (arrgh, don’t laugh now)

4. books of GMA and more books

5. surf detergent bar featuring who else but your lola

6. empty make-up kit

7. clothes upon heaps of clothes that i never actually use

seven things i plan to do before i die

1. live in another country for doctorate studies (preferably london)

2. work in London and be with my entire family there

3. give back to the philippines by teaching in up diliman or ateneo when i’m old and gray (but not now, yet)

4. go bungee jumping

5. go sky diving

6. see Tibet, Africa, Greece, and Rome before I die.

7. finish my dream house and have my dad build it for me.

seven things that attract me to the opposite sex

1. must be tall, "maangas" and athletic (oops, that’s three already.)

2. "maangas" without being mayabang

3. makes me laugh and laughs at my jokes as well.

4. makes "kulit" in a lovable way

5. malambing but not overly saccharine.

6. makes me feel "protected"

7. must be down to earth but have a taste for the finer things in life.

seven things i say most

1. now na?

2. grabe

3. as in

4. hey you

5. di nga?

6. ei (sa txt)

7. thank you

seven celeb crushes

1. jerry yan (o, ‘wag kokontra ha? Alam ko na mababaw ako. )

2. jude law (he’s so darn perfect - at least physically)

3. gael garcia bernal

4. andy roddick (before his features got so sharp and got "laspag")

5. george clooney (i know he’s too old for me but he just looks so gentlemanly and so old hollywood unlike brad who is so overrated.)

6. tom cruise (again, too old, but you’ve got to admit he looks good)

7. roger federer (not physically, but for his humility and because he is poetry in motion)

round nail in a square peg?

March 28th, 2006 by flutterkikay

I guess not. I was wondering whether I took the wrong course or pursued the wrong career path and the results that i got were…guess what - an affirmation of my life-long interests. well, at least i’m still on track…

Tick, tick, tick…BOOM!

February 19th, 2006 by flutterkikay

sa mga nagtatanong, buhay pa po ako. wala, it’s a usual ho-hum day with nothing but routines and deadlines to keep me company when i suddenly lost my limbs or what remained of it and my metal thingamajigs while walking down the hallway of Mabini (M)all on my way to the finger-scanning machine. joke lang (of the morbid kind, hehehe)… if my mom and my sis get to read this, nagbibiro lang po ako…lest they come wailing like banshees expecting a funeral of sorts. to tell you the truth, kala ko 21-gun salute lang or practice lang ng PSG, pero walang biro malakas talaga, wasak yung trashcan, buti na lang di ako nagyoyosi.

Eat healthy, exercise often, die anyway

January 22nd, 2006 by flutterkikay

i’m copying this verbatim from tj’s blog. it’s just too good to pass up. have a good laugh :) thx, tj for the laughter and the testi.

For those who are planning to make resolutions for the new year, here’s one you can strike off the list.
Q: I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true?
A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that’s it. Don’t waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that’s like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.
Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products!
Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: Well, if you have a body, and you have body fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.
Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?
A: Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain… Good.
Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?
A : You’re not listening. Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they’re permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?
Q: What’s the secret to healthy eating?
A : Thicker gravy.
Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.
Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: Are you crazy? HELLO… Cocoa beans… another vegetable!!! It’s the best feel-good food around!
Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets. Now go have a cookie… flour is a veggie!
If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

give me a ring…not!

haay, i wanna kick myself in the head for being so darn burara and makalat again.  in case you’re wondering where the hell am i and why am not replying to any of your texts, i’m going to be incommunicado in the past few days or so because i lost my phone.

THERE i said loud and clear- left it last monday at the office and though i practically rummaged through everything yesterday and even brought my yaya to look for it again today, i still couldn’t find even a speck of blue that i have grown to love. To think that I was just posting it up for sale the day before…

I know my mom and my sister will chide me again when they find out which they probably will after reading this post.

Well, so much for extra moolah :(
